His best known subject matter is seascape and coastal scenes, especially the Solent, Norfolk and Venice. His other notable work is his representation of the female form. He was born in Leicester in 1936 and attended Leicester College of Art for two years as a part time student before completing two years army service in Egypt. He then resumed art school in 1957. He then worked as a shoe designer but continued to paint and exhibited in Leicester, London and abroad with great success. He has had exhibitions at the Paris Salon, the Royal Institute, London and the Royal Academy. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Painters and Watercolors and the Royal Society of Marine Artists. He now lives on the south coast of England and exhibits his works regularly. © Big Sky Fine Art This original pastel work by English artist Robert King depicts a young female gymnast. She has short blonde hair and is wearing a one-piece scarlet red leotard. She is standing with her arms raised and her left leg slightly bent, as if to commence her floor routine, whilst her coach scrutinises her performance. There is a long table in the background with the outline of a standing figure behind it, so perhaps this is a competition and the gymnast is being judged. The floor is colored in the same scarlet red as the young woman’s leotard, suggesting that she is in tune with her surroundings. The viewer feels a slight anticipation but has faith that she is going to perform brilliantly!

Frame size 18.7 inches x 15.3 inches ( 47.5cm x 39cm ). Available for sale; this original pastel drawing is by the contemporary Welsh artist Elin Sian Blake. The drawing is presented and supplied in a glazed sympathetic frame (which is shown in these photographs) and is supplied ready to hang and display. The artwork is signed lower right. Elin Siân Blake is a contemporary Brecon-based artist, originally from the South Wales valleys, whose work delves deeply into the rich tapestry of Welsh heritage. Through various mediums, she creates poignant reflections of societal and cultural issues that have shaped the Welsh identity. Born in 1981, Elin Siân Blake began producing commissioned artwork from an early age, focussing on the traditional Welsh ponies and landscapes of her childhood. She was particularly inspired by the agricultural and equestrian events she attended. As a teenager she spent all her spare money on art supplies. Blake graduated from the University of Glamorgan in 2002 with a degree in graphic design and illustration, but quickly realised that she wanted to create conventional paintings, rather than producing digital images. She then spent several years living on the road in vintage vehicles, painting the scenes and characters she encountered on her travels. Blake taught herself oil painting using library...

Signed in Bengali Style : He has immense contribution in inspiring young artists of India. Jogen Chowdhury had developed his individual style after his return from Paris. His most famous paintings are in ink, watercolor and pastel. He has painted in oil medium as well. In Chowdhury’s more recent works the sensory experiences of cloth, bolsters, sofas and the human body are cross-projected to produce an uncanny world of tran-substantiated tumescence and flaccidness. Jogen Chowdhury has been widely acknowledged to be, the master of the unbroken line. Like Léger, Chowdhury has been stirred by the linear Kalighat pat tradition, but his lines are emotive and used to express and suggest the character of a person. This is done by, distorting the form without breaking the line and in the world of young, contemporary art; distortion has been Jogen Chowdhury’s most significant impact. Perhaps, because of this, a common observation of his work is that his “people” are caricatures. The person feels familiar to the viewer but it is far more individualised – the face is imaginary but the psyche or characteristics are real. The power and beauty of his technique and line is this play between the known and unknown. In Jogen Chowdhury’s work, the figure is always in the foreground, it is primary, it conveys everything. He uses colour to give volume to his figures and the fluidity of his lines bring a sensual aspect to his forms. About the Artist and his work : Born : Born 1939 in Daharpara Village, Faridpur, Bangladesh. Jogen Chowdhury is an eminent Indian painter and considered an important painter of 21st century India. Family Background : His father Pramatnath Chowdhury was a Brahmin zamindar. Both his parents took interest in art, Jogen Chowdhury’s father Pramatnath Chowdhury painted several mythological scenes from the village theatres and also sculpted various Hindu icons. Whereas his mother was an expert in Alpana drawings. 1939-47 Jogen Chowdhury lived in a village atmosphere. And after partition in 1948, the whole family shifted. Till 1951 the whole family stayed at the police department quarter of his uncle, where on the walls Jogen Chowdhury painted his first painting, 1962 Jogen Chowdhury was employed as Designer in the Handloom Board. Education : 1955-60: Studied at the Government College of Art and Crafts, Kolkata. 1965 : He went to paris to study in Ecole des Beaux Arts, in William Hayter’s Atelier 17.
