Malcolm Edwards is undoubtedly one of the finest watercolor artists of his generation. He is acknowledged as one of Wales’ most accomplished contemporary artists and has contributed greatly to the promotion of Welsh art.
Malcolm Edwards was born in 1934 to Welsh parents, and studied Architecture at Liverpool University from 1952-1958. He worked in private architectural practice in Wales from 1960-1993, from which time he has been a full-time painter. He has won many awards and in 1994 was elected to the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art, of which he is now a former Honorary Secretary.
The work of Malcolm Edwards is almost exclusively the landscapes of north Wales, specifically Snowdonia, and has a characteristic, atmospheric style. He says “Wild and mountainous places are the main source of my inspiration. I am fascinated by the texture of buildings and the landscape riven by the corrosive forces of wind and rain and with the fickle changes of light created on the faceted surfaces.” He is proud to promote the beauty of the Welsh landscape, stating “The mood and drama is paramount, and I want the viewer to be completely struck by the thought that it could only be Wales, even if the image or a large proportion of it is non-representational.”
Edwards lives in north Wales, where he paints from his studio in Holywell, Flintshire. He works mainly from sketchbooks full of information and images collected over the last thirty-odd years, together with his memory and imagination. His preferred medium is always watercolor, sometimes used in a traditional manner, but often in more adventurous and unconventional styles, created by exploiting uneven drying, frequent washing out and creating the subject from the grainy texture.
Today his paintings are in collections in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Sweden, Bermuda, South Africa, France and Germany. His works have also been purchased by Rolls Royce, The Contemporary Arts Society for Wales, Aberystwyth and The Clwyd Fine Arts Trust.
His work is in permanent collections in the National Museum of Wales, the Contemporary Art Society for Wales and the National Library of Wales.

This stunning original watercolor by Malcolm Edwards depicts a typical Welsh farmstead, with a flock of sheep on a hillside, and the ubiquitous sheepdog keeping watch. This is classic Malcolm Edwards; the clean skyline, the expansive landscape, the strong Welsh cultural theme and the exquisite attention to detail. The palette is perfectly balanced, with bright, almost rainbow colors in the sky, contrasted against the dark sharp stonework of the buildings and the pale verdant green tones of the grass, with the whiteness of the sheep bringing the all-important accent. This is a strong composition, beautifully crafted. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right section.

- Looking at the JungleLocated in San Francisco, CAThis artwork "Looking at the Jungle" c.1980 is a watercolor on heavy watercolor paper by California artist Charlotte Huntley. It is signed at the lower left corner by the artist. The size is 16.5 x 26.5 inches. It is in excellent condition, the colors are fresh and bright, has never been framed. About the artist: Charlotte Huntley might have been a renowned graffiti artist – her earliest work consisted of drawing on walls. But fate intervened and she learned to control these urges with a formal education at Scripps College, Chouinard School of Art, and the Los Angeles County Art Institute. These early tendencies reemerged not just in painting, but in other artistic ways as well, to the benefit of community theaters in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago. She spent years as a professional puppeteer and set designer, and developing her own unique watercolor painting style. Charlotte’s use of pointillism. Charlotte Huntley AWS, June Workshop Instructor “Charlotte Huntley has special insights into color and fresh approaches to cliche subject matter. Her work in watercolor is truly unique. Charlotte adapts the Pointillism of Seurat and other post-Impressionists and makes it her own in watercolor. With Pointillism, distinct points of primary colors create the impression of a wide selection of secondary colors. The technique relies on the perceptive ability of the eye and mind of the viewer to mix the color spots into a fuller range of tones. Charlotte truly makes the most of this style of painting. Over her illustrious career, Huntley has been awarded a signature membership in 29 watercolor societies, including the American Watercolor Society, California Watercolor Association, Transparent Watercolor Soc. of America, Northwest Watercolor Society, and Watercolor West. Overall, Charlotte has received 45 Awards in National Exhibitions since 2000 – an impressive achievement. This imaginative Watercolor Artist has had over 575 paintings accepted in National Juried Art Exhibitions in 46 states, also Canada and Puerto Rico, with 113 Awards.
