About the Item
Bernard Nacion
Untitled (Money Is The Drug), Late 20th Century
Acrylic on artist board
15 x 13 in.
A Surrealist representation, this piece shows a syringe shooting out liquid that becomes dollar bills. The astute comparison between the syringe and currency reinforces the idea that "money is a drug"; drugs are bad, and money is the root of all evil, so the artist cleverly places them in conversation together through composition.
Bernard Nacion is a creative whose imaginative compositions take many different shapes. He guest starred on the Los Angeles Public-access television show "Let's Paint", which was started in 2002 by John Kilduff. He also worked in the art department for films including The House of Yes (1997) and A Dangerous Woman (1993). His subjects range from surrealist scenes to portraits and cartoon-styled animations.
