About the Item
Il piccolo ma dettagliato dipinto a tempera acquerellata su carta, di forma ovale, è firmato in basso a sinistra E. Niccheri, ovvero Egisto Niccheri, un pittore toscano attivo soprattutto nella fine del XIX secolo e le cui prime notizie risalgono al 1842.
Sempre in basso a sinistra si trova anche la scritta "March. Bonaccorso Uguccioni", che insieme allo scudo coronato della famiglia presente nel mobiletto ci aiutano ad interpretare il soggetto raffigurato, figura rilevante nella città prima dell'unificazione d'Italia. L'uomo è seduto davanti la finestra, attraverso la quale si staglia l'edificio simbolo del potere politico della città di Firenze, di cui si nota la torre e la merlatura, si può quindi dedurre che sia stato ritratto nel palazzo di famiglia, tuttora esistente, presente proprio nella piazza lì accanto.
