David Andrew
British mid century 3D collage by Cornish artist David Andrew, 2/25

About the Item

A beautiful 3D abstract collage in different materials in muted colours by Cornish artist David Andrew. Andrew was born in Redruth, Cornwall, one of the few internationally recognised artists to begin their lives within the county. From 1954-58 he studied at the Falmouth School of Art before attending the Slade School, London the following year. In 1959 he travelled to France and Italy, before returning to London, and then took up a Visiting Artist post with the Portsmouth College of Art. From 1962 through 1970 David lived in Bournemouth, where he was Visiting Artist at both Bournemouth College of Art and Portsmouth College of Art. In 1971 he moved to Canada where he set up the Printmaking Department at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, over a three year period before transferring to the Painting Department. Since 1977 he has lived mainly in Cornwall, with breaks of a year each in Crete and California, and a 10 year period back in Canada with summer visits for painting around Europe and the coasts of USA and Canada - often in a mobile studio 'converted from a recreational vehicle'. In his own words, he sees 'painting as a way of testing speculations about nature against the touchstone of artistic form...posing questions in colour and shape.' His paintings 'embrace both "thinking" and "sensing" (i.e. making sense)' of the visual. • Serendipity XVIII - Colorful Abstract Geometric Painting in Red, Green, and Grey
    By Raul de la Torre
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
Barcelona native artist Raul de la Torre's vibrant abstract mixed media artworks pay homage to textiles. De La Torre allows the materials to take over during the process and collaborates with the unexpected to create works that speak to the natures of dynamism and unity. Experimentation with different materials, textures, and techniques in each of his paintings has been a point of discovery and a major part of Raul de la Torre’s work. This colorful horizontal artwork is created with thickly layered acrylic paint on paper. This original work on paper is not framed. This painting is 22 inches high by 30 inches wide. Framing options are available. Convenient local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping is available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. The interaction between the artist, gravity, and the paint is important for the final result. The technique attempts to eliminate the absolute imprint of the artist’s hand. This permits the paint to be a major architect of the final result, giving it a life of its own. It results in infinite and timeless color combinations. In many cases, the different layers of color each represent a temporary state of mind, time, and even places and people. Artspace Warehouse has been representing and exhibiting Raul de la Torre's original artworks since 2010. The gallery has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. The gallery exhibits a large selection of affordable original artworks from established and emerging international artists with diverse backgrounds at high standards. Artspace Warehouse is known to provide accurate descriptions, images, reliable services, communication, and delivery.
