Russell Frampton
Russell Frampton is an artist, musician and filmmaker based in Devon, UK. As an undergraduate of Exeter Art College, he went on to gain his MA in fine art from Plymouth University where he now lectures in Digital Dance and Screendance Practice.
"[My] paintings refer to a diversity of textual elements drawn from such disparate fields as archaeology, history, climatology, geology, personal and folk memory and myth as well as more formal considerations such as color, composition, tone, texture, light and surface," says Frampton.
Through the intense application of gold combined with arcane symbology, layering, depth and shape, Frampton's latest collections have a quality of magical realism about them. The resulting work is somewhat reminiscent of a dream — it makes sense yet is not quite fully discernible, as though its expression is rooted in an unfamiliar language.
Frampton's work not only commands attention but offers in exchange the revelation of a secret passage between this world and another.
In 2019, LCA began supplying an international luxury French fashion house with multiple examples of Frampton's work. This continuing relationship is testament to its aesthetic quality, rich intrigue and technical integrity.

- Golden Lore IV - contemporary mixed media collage gold abstractBy Russell FramptonLocated in London, GBThis recent body of work is informed by my continuing research into the physical and metaphorical nature of archaeological artefacts and votive objects, allied to the referencing of the symbolic forms and materiality of alchemy. Central to this practical investigation has been the use of ‘gold’, and the qualities that the material, with its obvious chromatic and symbolic values, seems to possess. This has driven both the conceptual and pragmatic concerns within the evolution of this work. Gold is an alluring and complex symbol of many, often conflicting meanings, avarice, greed, wealth but also of purity and celebration, and has been used as the adornment of spiritual and religious iconography as a devotional act for millennia. The titles refer to connections I have made with the forms themselves, often when making a painting a word will emerge which acts as a form of poetic catalyst. ‘Parsival’ or Percivale/Peredur was the knight questing for the holy grail...Category

Initial ideas usually develop out of the close study of old shutters...Category

- Kyle Andrew Szpyrka - Unity 3-2, Painting 2021By Kyle Andrew SzpyrkaLocated in Greenwich, CTIn dealing with numbers and geometry there is a lot of symbology at every turn. The equilateral triangle when facing upwards is the symbol of the element of Fire. The number 3 indicates spirit or the soul (think of the trinity). In the realm of the elements, the fire of our soul blends with the element of earth (our bodies) giving us life. So Fire and soul can be seen amplified by the symbology in this piece. And in the Unity series this is one of the most dominant themes I strive to express is this fundamental connection we all share as souls living this human experience here together on Earth, and the ability we all have to get to know...Category
