RACHEL MARIE is a self taught artist she grew up sharing her time between Canada and Europe. She was raised by a single mother who taught art and languages. In her formative years she was encouraged to pursue her self expression and curiosity. Rachel showed her passion and artistic inclination from a young age through art, music and food. Rachel attended York university in Toronto and became a translator interpreter. She then moved to London, Paris and Amsterdam where she started a family. This is where she encountered the works of abstract expressionism masters. The emotional intensity resonated deeply within her. As her 4 sons embarked on their own journey, she found herself standing at a new threshold o1 a new chapter in her life. At 57 she realized it was time to turn inward, and reflect on who she was as an individual separate from the role as a parent and caregiver. She began to contemplate her life, trajectory, pondering the passions and interests that I have been simmering inside of he all along .. As the pandemic hit and life stood still , Rachel started to paint. Experimenting with colors, textures, mediums, she found that putting paint to canvas filled her with a new found meaning, redefining her purpose. Freedom, peace and joy all liberating and overwhelming at the same time. She now has found her style and gravitates to ABSTRACT art. As she ventures into new territories, the path ahead is not fully defined, but unlimited by the passions rekindled.
