In this copy Tanguy has added additional colouring by hand in gouache and water-colour to the front cover and the title page. 'The cover and illustrations of this first embellishment of a Surrealist text by the artist are reproductions of his drawings, which he has enhanced with white paint on the first copies. In the year this book was published the self-taught Tanguy introduced small biomorphic and pebble forms into the barren landscapes that characterized his compositions.' (Riva Castleman, A Century of Artists Books).
From the edition limited to 210 numbered copies, all signed by Tanguy and Péret on the justification, with this one of 175 copies on vergé. A fine, unopened copy.
