Cristina Ghetti
'Color Thinking Composition PS31' Colorful Kinetic Painting

2018

About the Item

‘Color Thinking Composition PS31’ is a medium size abstract geometric acrylic on canvas painting created by Argentinian artist Cristina Ghetti in 2018. Featuring a vivid, multicolor palette made of blue, green, yellow, pink and orange among others, this square format depicts a series of wavy parallel lines, leading our eye from one side of the painting to the other. Cristina boldly contrasts the various colors to one another, in a rhythm that, along with the curviness of the lines, creates a definite sense of movement. Unframed, this acrylic on canvas geometric abstract piece will be a definite focal point in any room, whether placed above a buffet, side table or chest-of-drawer. Cristina Ghetti was born in Buenos Aires but today lives in Valencia, Spain. If one were to describe Cristina’s work, some of the words that might come to mind would be energy, linearity, aberration and color… although she frequently creates monochrome pieces. Her work typically features a series of parallel lines with a variety of aberrations that tend to focus attention while at the same time enhancing the entire piece. Whether monochromatic or with dozens of colors, Cristina’s pieces always brighten up whatever space they occupy. If geometry comes to mind when viewing Cristina’s pieces, that is no accident. She has a Master’s of Visual Arts and Multimedia from Valencia Polytechnic University and expanded on the subject in her PhD thesis: “Post Medial Geometry”. Cristina’s work very much epitomizes the notion of the intersection of art and science, and the world has indeed taken notice. Her works can be found in galleries around the world in cities such as New York, Miami, Toronto, London, Barcelona, Bonn, and Panama City among others.

Provenance Steve Chase Design, Palm Springs, CA Ronnie Landfield was born in the Bronx, NY on January 9, 1947 - the same day as his older brother. As a teenager, he was encouraged to pursue a career as an artist, subsequently creating his first real paintings around the age of 14. He was particularly influenced by a Life magazine article from 1961 on the Abstract Expressionists, most notably: Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Adolph Gottlieb, Hans Hofmann, Mark Rothko, Clyfford Still, Robert Motherwell and Franz Kline. After stints at the Art Students League, the Kansas City Art Institute, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the University of California at Berkeley, Landfield’s professional career as a painter began in New York in 1965. The following year, after completing a major series of hard-edge border paintings, success as a painter began to materialize. The famous architect and collector Philip Johnson and the collector Robert Scull each acquired large paintings works, as did the Sheldon Memorial Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1967, Landfield was invited to participate in the Whitney Annual at the end of the year. His work attracted considerable attention, and he was invited to participate in important group exhibitions at the Bykert, Bianchini, and Park Place Galleries in New York.
