Debora Hirsch was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She received an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of São Paulo and an MBA from Bocconi University in Milan. Hirsch has been investigating the limits of representation and aims at resending perception towards the network to which we are all interconnected and depending on, she has a metaphysical approach to art where different realities are intertwined. Each painting, beyond its aesthetic harmony, is to be analyzed, even decoded. Debora Hirsch seeks to create a balanced coexistence between seemingly unrelated worlds, both in time and space, in order to unveil hidden realities, subtle connections and similarities such as between the colonial period in America - particularly in Brazil- and the digital colonialism that reigns in the contemporary world. Hirsch's works are both harmonious and complex, born of an erudite and poetic construction from scattered and decontextualized elements: fragments of landscapes, architectural details, traces of traditional decorative motifs that unconsciously recall the microscopic life, scientific representations, decoded elements of digital language, algorithms, and elements borrowed from American colonial imagery. Artist-in-residence at AnnexB, New York (2019) and at RU Residency Unlimited, New York (2018). Nominated for the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation's (CIFO) Grants and Commissions Program 2019-2020. included in some public and private collections such as MOCAK Museum Of Contemporary Art in Krakow.
