Matching Pair of Parker Lee Mid Century Modern Abstract Gouache c.1950s With subtle color and texture, these fantastic mid century paintings show a pair of abstract cityscapes, one with tall buildings, the other with high wires criss-crossing above the rooftops. Each painted on panel and housed in it's original frame. Painting dimensions 18.5" x 15.5". The frames measures 15" x 23". Leo Leibsohn (Parker Lee) was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on November 2, 1924. His father, Nate Leibsohn, was born in Czarist Russia in 1890; his mother in Imperial Germany in 1893. He was a precocious talent who caught the eye of the great American Regionalist painter Grant Wood (1891-1942), who served as the young man's first mentor and taught him the basics of figurative painting. Offered as a matching pair only.
