2021

About the Item

All That She Touches, Original Framed Contemporary Abstract Mixed Media Painting 40x40x2 (HxWxD), Mixed Media A minimalist abstract work, this square format painting by artist Stacey Warnix combines powerful and bold pink tones with a muted beige and cream color palette, striking the perfect balance between energy and calm. Soft organic forms layer on top of one another, pooling and bleeding into one another. This mixed media work on canvas comes float framed and ready to hang. Artist Commentary: This painting, rendered on raw velvet, is part of the artist's Millefiori Collection. Italian for a thousand flowers, Millefiori embraces the artist’s love of flowers and travel. Gestural marks and movements combine to form a composition that varies with the viewer’s tendencies: a loosely splayed flower at the micro-level might be experienced as an enveloping abstract landscape by someone with a more macro viewpoint. In creating each piece, the artist builds innumerable layers of translucent color to yield delicate, ethereal tonal effects over raw Belgian linen. Structurally, the artist renders compositions loosely inspired from hazy, fleeting memories of places and moments experienced during extensive international travels over 30 years. By limiting mark-making to imprecise, free-flowing movements, the lack of contextual representation conveys a sense of ambiguity and universality. These intentionally vague abstract works straddle a space that feels both familiar and imagined, like a bewildering daydream. About The Artist: Stacey Warnix is an American lyrical abstraction painter who uses gestural methods to render large-scale, non-representational paintings over raw textile. Her paintings explore the experiential affect of nuanced color and scale, utilizing contrasting layers of disparate translucency and texture to subtly shift the perception, light reflectivity, and luminosity of nature-inspired color fields. Introduced to representational oil painting as a preschooler by an artist grandmother, Stacey created paintings and collages throughout her childhood, winning frequent awards, but she ultimately pursued a professional career in law and finance. In 2014, she left that career to dedicate more time to a home restoration business and started painting large scale abstract artworks for use in projects. Within weeks of posting a few paintings to social media, Stacey was invited to sell artworks in an upscale home décor boutique, and from that unplanned, very unintentional start, her art practice quickly grew. Preferring a vague composition that can be anything to anyone, Stacey experimented with gestural abstraction and became enamored with the process as a meditative escape. Today, Stacey paints mainly large-scale paintings incorporating a wide range of media over raw grounds. She paints to escape a world of precision, finding respite in abstract forms, textures, and tones.

  • Poppy Stitch, Original Contemporary Bright Abstract Patterned Collage Painting
    Located in Boston, MA
Poppy Stitch, Original Contemporary Bright Abstract Patterned Collage Painting 42x56x1.5 (HxWxD), Mixed Media Vibrant orange-red, bright cyan, yellow ochre, and a myriad of cool grays are consistent throughout the composition in this large format mixed media painting by artist Sarah Finucane. Oriented horizontally, the surface is split equally into four vertical panel-like sections. Thick swirls of paint, larger areas of scumbling, paint drips, and more linear elements come together in an abstract energy storm. As a combination of collaged paintings, the artist has allowed for her older works to be reborn in a new creation of its own. In-situ images are mockups only; work comes unframed. Artist Commentary: This piece captures the feeling of a spontaneous road trip through the Southern California sunshine with your bestie, heading to Lake Elsinore when the poppies are in full bloom. The upbeat and perky vibe is conveyed through a mix of media, including Caran D'ache Neopastels, oil bars, graphite, and acrylic paint in shades of blue-green, yellow ochre, and warm and cool grays, punctuated with pops of black. It can be hung in any direction and serves as a bright and uplifting addition to any home or office. The creation of this piece was inspired by the artist's own unfinished paintings, which they felt stuck on. Instead of getting frustrated, they took a chance and cut out the parts they liked best, using their vintage Singer sewing machine...

  • Rapt, Original Contemporary Abstract Mixed Media Painting on Canvas

Rapt, Original Contemporary Abstract Mixed Media Painting on Canvas 48x36 (HxW), Mixed Media A light gray tone dominates the canvas in this mixed media work by artist Sarah Finucane. Splashes of organic shapes, linear elements, and identifiable lettering is reminiscent of graffiti tagging you might see in a city or urban setting. Finucane's utilization of this aesthetic but on a large format canvas brings an interplay between the "low" and "high" art in our society. In-situ images are mockups only; work comes unframed. Artist Commentary: 36x48x1.5” mixed media on canvas. Like a dog with two tails, this piece symbolizes the feeling when you wake up ecstatic to see the sunshine after a three, four, five dark and gloomy days. The lines float the eye around the canvas like walking on air. The earthy color palette of raw sienna and Indian yellow is inspired by vintage woven Berber...
