About the Item
This textural offering is reminiscent of an old time radio, called a transceiver by old timers, and an integral part of family evenings before TV. I attached the number nine, Novem, to the end of the title because I thought it appropriate as it is often associated with mystery and the unknown, which reigned supreme on old time radio. The painting was done on a canvas textured specifically for the image and painted to resemble tarnished copper. It has been coated with several coats of protective varnish to protect it from time, moisture and the elements. I use matte or satin varnish to preserve the surface of the painting as it appears when I finish it rather than change the appearance with a glossy finish. It has a natural finish which suits it much better.
