Ceravolo
"One Million Years of Urban Pop" original oil and acrylic on canvas, 62x48"

2016

About the Item

Ceravolo's Large scale paintings have received international acclaim for more four decades. His art rose to acclaim when he was commissioned to create five large scale paintings for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City of Frank Zappa, Linda Ronstadt, Neil Young, Jackson Browne and Hall and Oates. In addition to these, his paintings are in many influential corporate and private collections worldwide. This original oil and acrylic painting on canvas is in Ceravolo's world famous Urban Pop style, which has captivated Ceravolo collectors like, SIR ELTON JOHN, ROD STEWART, HUGH M. HEFNER, ALICE COOPER and PRINCE JEFRI of BRUNEI to name only a few. This painting is inspired by the movie that starred Raquel Welch and features as satire Ceravolo's Gopher "G" dressed as a caveman in the painting. Ceravolo's paintings combine abstract and realistic work on the same large scale canvas. On this canvas, the abstract work is a spontaneous application of paint which adds color and texture and is in perfect compliment to the gray realistic figure. The abstract areas of the canvas contrast glossy with matte , thick textures with light washes of color and throughout the work there is an energy and spontaneity that is characteristic of Ceravolo's work. Once Ceravolo has painted the entire abstract painting he then decides exactly where he is going to paint the figure of Raquel Welch on the abstract canvas. Where he paints that figure is extremely important to create the excitement found in this oil and acrylic painting. As you explore and study this life-size canvas you discover more and more of the energy within this work of art.
