Contemporary figure study of classical Greek sculpture of a Hermes from the verso depicted with expressive brushstrokes on a bold, deep red background, by UK-based Filipino artist Francis Tanseco (Filipino, b.20th Century), 2010. This is study of a Greek statue of Hermes of the late 5th or early 4th century B.C exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Signed, dated, and titled "Series 'Perfect Empire' #5" on verso. Unframed. Image size: 28"H x 22"W. A contemporary Filipino artist based in the UK, Francis Tanseco was born in Catbalogan, Samar, Philippines. He studied at Concordia College, Manila. A registered nurse, dancer, artist and has been active as a painter since 2002. His paintings were exhibited at the Philippine Embassy in London in July 2012. He moved to the US around 2014. Exhibited 2010 at the Philippine Consulate. The series “Perfect Empire” was inspired from Roman statues during a trip he took to Athens. Roman after Classical Greek original. This is study of a Greek statue of the late 5th or early 4th century B.C exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
