Frank Hutchens was an American Impressionist painter known for his gentle landscapes and portraits. Indeed, one reviewer in the New York Times called him "an ingratiating interpreter of gentle scenes" (Feb. 8, 1920). The work was exhibited at the Salmagundi Club (label en verso) and is housed in a beautiful original frame.
