About the Item
An exceptional watercolor in terms of quality and presentation. During this earlier period of Day's career he exhibited extensively and was inspired by Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite influences. This is less a portrait of a mother and child than a celebration of it. The color palette is subtle and atmospheric accentuating more that it is a romanticized scene than an actual one. The frame is a recent addition and it is an exceptional and very high quality reproduction of 19th century style frame and it is 22 karat leaf and hand carved. It is good size for a watercolor and lends an elegance to any interior! The artist has a very noted career and is a respected American genre and figurative artist.
Great condition.
Inside matting the image size is 20.5 x 27 inches the listed size is with the frame.
