In these handwritten pictures "I connect text and painting. Like mantras, poetry and pieces of thought are repeated in a symmetrical textual network - a visual discourse. They interact with the painterly elements and form the web and the space where everything is moving ahead."
Dr. Michael Pröpper, born 1968, artist and anthropologist, lives and works as a painter and installation artist near Hamburg. Various national and international exhibitions and art fairs, e.g. in Belgium, Denmark, England Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Namibia, Austria, Sweden. For Dr. Michael Pröpper art and anthropology are two field that enrich each other and are important to one another. It is abut the pictorial reflection on how modern people are thrown into the world and wander through it. Poetry and politics, color and concept, soul and search, energy and emotion. In his paintings Pröpper is concerned with the lyeredness and translucence of the luminous world, the illusion of modern life, the incomplete nature of our blurred perception, and human consciousness in a speedy and noisy life. His paintings in oil, acrylic and many mixed-media techniques, e.g. pencil writings, are often compositions at the border between the figurative and the abstract.
