About the Item
Serghei Ghetiu was born on January 1, 1976, in the small town of Soroca in Moldova. From an early age he was fascinated by modelling clay and drawing. His very first exhibition took place already in the nursery, later in the city house of culture. Drawing and painting fascinated him so that he had no doubts that he would study further. He attended an art school that he successfully graduated in 1991. Since the College of Fine Arts was in the capital Chisinau, and he was only 15 years old, he stayed at home. In the same year there was a misfortune, his father died, which also affected the family budget. Thoughts about going to college, living and studying in the expensive capital had to be left until better times. He went to serve in the army. From the first month of military service, he was noticed as an artist, since he made a couple of drawings for his colleagues. He was called to headquarters and became a regimental artist. There were a lot of orders and he was very popular in his military unit. After the service, he was offered a permanent job in the capital as a graphic designer, but he refused because he decided that this would greatly limit his freedom and plans for the future. At the age of 21, he decided to enter the College of Fine Arts „Alexandru Plămădeală” in Chisinau, Moldova. And successfully passed the entrance exams. But after half a year he had to quit my studies due to financial difficulties. He decided to work and leave the painting as a hobby. At the age of 26 he entered the University again, but this time not as an artist but as a linguist. For practical reasons and a weak economic situation in Moldova, he decided to go for another specialty, because with computerization, artists have become unclaimed in the market. He was successful in his studies and received a scholarship to study in Germany. There he graduated from the university with a degree in German Philology and Communication. At the same time he, of course, painted and even sold his works. After studying, he moved with his future wife to Lithuania, where he still lives. Literally this move determined his profession as an artist. His solid knowledge of German philology was not needed without knowledge of the Lithuanian language, and painting came to the fore again. Since then he has been working as an artist and he loves this work very much. His paintings are in many countries of the world. He constantly works on his skills, tries and improves. His paintings hang in the galleries of Vilnius and Kaunas. But more of his clients are Americans, he can not even say for sure how many paintings are in the USA and in which states. Every year he is taking part in the art fair Art Revolution Taipei A. R. T. and several times was nominated in the American Art Awards.

Rogelio de Egusquiza y Barrena (1845 – 10 February 1915) was a Spanish painter, known for his friendship with the German composer Richard Wagner, whose works he helped make familiar in Spain He was born in El Astillero, into a well-to-do family. He studied in Madrid and with Léon Bonnat at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1868, after travelling and participating several times in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, he returned to Paris and settled there. At first, he painted historical scenes, but later turned to genre scenes and portraits in the Academic style. Following the death of Marià Fortuny, he moved to Rome at the invitation of the Madrazos, Raimundo and Ricardo, taking Fortuny's place at their studio through 1875 and attending classes at the Spanish Academy in Rome. He heard Wagner's music for the first time in 1876, after returning to Paris. Three years later, he travelled to Munich to hear a performance of The Ring of the Nibelungen. His enthusiasm for what he heard led him to go to Bayreuth, where he introduced himself to Wagner and became his friend. In the following years, he and Wagner got together again several times; in Venice (1880), Berlín (1881) and Bayreuth (1882); where he was a guest at the premiere of Parsifal. After his first meeting with Wagner, he decided to devote his career to doing works on Wagnerian themes; mostly portraits of the characters rather than specific scenes. During his visits to Germany, he also created portraits of Arthur Schopenhauer (posthumous) and King Ludwig II...Category
