About the Item
Artist Comments
Artist Paula Martino paints a tranquil scene of a row of quaint homes nestled within a gentle snowfall. The softly falling snow settles on the ground and rooftops in small mounds. The bare tree on the left balances the shrubbery landscaping along the front yard. Yellow, green, and blue pastel hues further soften the mood of the quiet winter scene. Paula uses hogs' hair brushes to achieve fine detail and splatters paint with a toothbrush to replicate the snowfall.
About the Artist
Artist Paula Martino paints impressionist scenes, especially of places with water. “They reflect the energy and emotions I feel when I see a compelling locale I visit,†says Paula. Using various tools, she applies thick layers of color with oil or acrylic paint and sometimes uses stencil work. With her palette knife technique, she unveils strands of lighter hues amidst her dominantly saturated palette, creating a semi-abstract element. Paula worked as a CPA for thirty-five years running her own tax practice while raising three children, with one having Down Syndrome. All the while pursuing art part-time in a studio her husband built for her in their basement. After retiring in 2020, she decided to pursue her art practice fully, studying in earnest with nationally recognized colorists, portrait artists, and landscape painters. “The experiences of caregiving and tax prep forced me to be very conscientious and organized with my time and efforts. I needed to be so completely organized for so long that it is a relief to be a little messy in my studio.â€

- Sunny Day, Street in Puerto Vallarta, MexicoBy Suren NersisyanLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
The painting is a result of my impressions from traveling in Mexico. Old, colorful, dramatic looking houses under the bright sun look dynamic and full of life energy.About the Artist
Suren is an impressionist painter eloquently capturing nature, landscapes, and cityscapes in paint. His body of work reflects several different stylistic approaches. Suren’s scenes in oil are inspired by Impressionist masters Monet and Van Gogh, while his watercolor series of flowers and birds are influenced by Eastern styles of painting and the colors of the Middle Eastern environment. Suren believes his role as an artist is to remind viewers that we all are part of the same natural universe.Sunny Day, Street in Puerto Vallarta...
