Artist Bio: “My pictorial experience comes from the deep love for the beauty of my land: for its colours, its scents, for the sea, the lights and shadows in stark contrast. The landscape is the focal point of my artistic consciousness: my first works, characterised by sunny urban landscapes, courtyard houses and flowered balconies, were mostly done with watercolour. This technique allowed me to experiment with some solutions such as wet-on-wet in which the seemingly uncontrollable colour pigments represent the natural and indispensable visual harmony of the Salento landscape. Another element that animated my work for a long time was the flowery landscape: wheat fields, olive groves in bloom, and sea views where the observer becomes part of the landscape itself. For this reason, the landscape is an essential element of my work, the sign of my continuous research precisely in the mutability of the natural element. The limestone cliffs, the sea, the reflections, the iridescences, the emerald green and the blue that emerge from the darkness of the seabed, currently represent the natural element in which my work is able to find greater interpretative coherence.”

  • "Echo 1", Pair of Impressionist Style Oil Painting on Canvas, Waterscape Diptych
    By Jill Hackney
    Located in St. Louis, MO
"A native of New Orleans, Jill Hackney studied painting at The Cleveland Institute of Art and Louisiana State University, where she earned her BFA. She is a founding member and twice president of Studio 801, an artists’ cooperative in Baton Rouge. She was also recently selected as a Fellow of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation for her work as President of the NUNU Arts and Culture Collective. Best known for her still life and landscape work, her focus is to show light’s impact on her subjects through layers of vertical and linear strokes. Using the natural texture of the wood on which she paints, each painting is approached with a sense of nostalgia. The end effect is a union of the senses, which awakens feelings of joy, serenity, and peace. Jill currently functions as the Director of International Communications for NUNU Arts and Culture Collective." "Echo 1", Pair of Impressionist...

Nan Hass Feldman’s “Budding”, 2013, 12 x 12 inches, pigment stick oil painting on cradled panel is a Fauve Expressionist painting which means a loose, painterly, recognizable subject created with emotional subjective color. It is multi-layered with rich colors of scarlet red, soft greens, blues, and subtle purples. This very textured, rich oil painting...

  • Neucleus - 21st Century, Contemporary Art, Abstract, Oil Painting, Spray Paint
    By Scott Naismith

"My recent work now becomes more involved with cloud cover and its effect on light and colour through both its translucent and opaque properties. Clouds are visible masses of water droplets or frozen ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. They have the ability to refract and reflect, creating an ever changing perception of light which inspires my use of colour. I am constantly referring to the paradox of a cloud’s perceived weight and its fragility and the relationship between the cool and warm colours created by it. I have become increasingly interested in catching the moment when heavy overcast clears to reveal clear blue sky, a cool colour that complements the warmth it brings. While the most obvious manifestation of light refraction at this time would occur in the form of a rainbow, I will be concerned with accentuating the infinite, more subtle effects. I find myself inspired increasingly by the works of Turner, who created ephemeral atmospheric effects using large washes of liquid paint. Other influences include Henry Matisse, Francis Cadell...
