This artwork titled "San Jacinto Peak" c.1970, is an oil painting on canvas by noted Palm Spring artist Darwin Taylor, 1921-1975. It is signed at the lower right corner by the artist. The canvas size is 24 x 48 inches, framed size is 29.5 x 53.5 inches. Framed in a wooden black and silver frame, with fabric liner and silver color bevel. Please note that the dark area at the upper right of the liner is only the shadow, this artwork is in excellent condition.
About the artist:
Darwin Y. Taylor was born in Idaho on July 24, 1921. After serving in World War Two, Taylor majored in education at Western State College and began painting. Most of his landscapes are of the desert around Palm Springs. He died in Riverside, CA on January 22, 1975. He was a patron of the arts at the City of Hope and a member of the Desert Art Ass'n. The work of Darwin Taylor is held in numerous collections nationwide.
