About the Item
Large size Triptych, Oil Painting on canvas stretched on a wooden frame,
Signed by the artist.
"I like to use transparencies and glazes; bodies and figures appear as mountains or rivers, always part of the landscapes, blending and belonging to them. One of the biggest influences was a trip to West America a few years ago: I finally saw the immensity of the deserts and the impressive canyons which I had dreamt of (thanks to David Hockney!). From this trip, I will forever remember the unique colours and since then, I seek to reproduce them with my pigments. I love experimenting mediums and combinations of mediums.
My painting doesn’t have to tell a story. Figures exist only on the canvas. They have no yesterday nor tomorrow. I want to leave space to the viewer’s imagination for his own and personal story."
Delphine Rocher is a graduate of the Duperré School of Applied Arts, Paris, France.
Her favorite themes are the American West, adolescence and scenes of life. She plays with reality and the incongruous: a jump in space, a truncated perspective, an inverted image, light from multiple sources.
In her New Western series, Delphine‘s paintings are concerned with the interaction between humankind and landscape, its role as an actor, its relationship to space, its status as a spectator. As for her adolescent figures, they evoke this gentle and tumultuous period of life which mixes reverie and energy, the nonchalance of an age between two waters.
She enjoys exploring transparencies. Her paintings brilliantly captures the nonchalance in one’s gestures, a timeless ambiance, which entreats you to open your imagination.

Delphine was born in Versailles, France (1969), which is also refered to as the cradle of the French touch. She studied art and graphic design at Atelier d’art Roederer, and has a bachelors degree from L’École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré. She is working in graphism and is affiliated at La Maisons des Artistes since 1991 In 1997, she co-founded Zaoum , an agency for graphism creation. Delphine had very few exhibitions and is coming out fresh and mature. "I like to navigate between small formats that require precision and restraint, and large formats on canvas and a work of breadth, depth, material. The polyptychs also favor the horizon and suggest continuity.
I also like mixing techniques, pushing them to the limits, contradicting them. The inks, but also the pen, the black stone, my little press, the stamp sheets "
