About the Item
Georges R. Quinio (1927 - 1999)
After studying at Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Georges R. Quinio lived in his native Island of Corsica & devoted his time to the painting. He gave free rein to his imagination, portraying and interpreting the beauty of his homeland in a kaleidoscope of color. The influence of impressionism and occasionally pointillism is evident. With a marked preference for the palette knife, he also worked with brush, chalk & watercolor. Through his painting, the artist portrays the admiration and enjoyment he experienced surrounded by the beauty of Corsica and also Fontainebleau where he spent the last years of his life. The elegant simplicity of his works communicates in a profusion of light & colors, both a "joie de vivre" and profound serenity.

- "Solebury Valley"By William Langson LathropLocated in Lambertville, NJSigned lower right. Complemented by a period frame. William L. Lathrop (1859-1938) Deemed “Father of the New Hope Art Colony”, William Langson Lathrop was born in Warren, Illinois. He was largely self-taught, having only studied briefly with William Merritt Chase in 1887, at the Art Students League. Lathrop first moved east in the early 1880s, and took a job at the Photoengraving Company in New York City. While there, he befriended a fellow employee, Henry B. Snell.
