Jim Lamb
California Backroad

2013

About the Item

Immersing himself in majestic surroundings is part of Jim Lamb’s daily routine, whether it’s Washington’s Cascade Mountains or California’s pacific Coast beaches. Capturing the beauty of the natural world is his every day reality. Lamb is an award-winning participant in the selective Northwest Rendezvous group of painters. He is also a regular participant in a number of well known California shows, including the Laguna Beach plein air painting invitational and Sonoma plein air show. "A large percentage of my paintings are created on location, "en plein air." Painting outdoors is invigorating to me. I enjoy the solitude, the sights and sounds of the outdoors. I'm driven by the challenge of capturing directly on canvas the essence of what inspires me. Signed by the artist.

  • Summer Memory in Laguna Beach #4
    By Jian Wang
    Located in Laguna Beach, CA
If Jian Wang is to claim a style, it lies in his approach to painting. Distinguished by his ability to reconfigure the elements of a composition to his own vision, he virtually sculpts the image using energetic brush strokes and thick, buttery oil paint. “My style involves tremendous physicality and emotion,” he says. “I have a simple palette of eight colors, which I combine right on the canvas. I’m careful with my gestures; I carry many colors in a single brush stroke.” His work, influenced significantly by realism with an impressionist inference, is influenced both by the landscape and by contemporary artists such as Fred Dalkey...

  • Winter Scene
    By Walter Launt Palmer
    Located in New York, NY
In this prototypical oil painting, Walter Launt Palmer's title as "the painter of the American winter" can be vividly and brilliantly seen. As an impressionist painter that emerged at the turn of the 20th century, Palmer took great interest in the picturesque American landscape, though he particularly focused on the rendering of this landscape glistening with snow. His pictures evoke an unreplicable natural serenity, and in this oil painting "The Winter Scene...
