Sag Harbor Crosswalk

2019

About the Item

Plein-air painting of a crosswalk on Main Street, in Sag Harbor, NY. Painting dimensions: 11 x 14 inches Framed dimensions: 16.5 x 19.5 inches Artist Bio Marc Dalessio was born in 1972 in Los Angeles, California. Even in his earliest years, it was evident that his passion was art. In 1989 he started at the University of California at Santa Cruz where he focused on both art and biology. During his time in Santa Cruz, Marc experimented with different schools of painting and spent much of his spare time studying the history and culture of the profession. He finished his outstanding academic career, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, in 1992. After university, Marc moved to Florence, Italy, where he spent the next eight years developing his style and refining his technique. Initially, Marc studied under Svetlan Kracsyna at Il Bisonte International School of Graphic Arts, where he earned a master printmaker degree. From there he went on to train as a portraitist at a small traditional painting atelier. Marc has emerged as a true master of his craft. Whether his work depicts an Indian landscape or an Italian businessman, the lines and color in his paintings attempt to reveal the nature of his subjects. In his portraits, he works to find the essence of the model, trying to use the true character of the individual to decide the mood of the painting. His plein air landscapes, which range in subject from exotic locations around the world to his own backyard, attempt to capture both the present and the history of the environment, touching the soul with his own unique view of the scenery. In all his works, his dedication to light and color, and the subtly of his subjects, enraptures even the most casual observer.

C.W. Mundy's "Shoshone Canyon, West of Cody" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts the rocky terrain and foliage in an impressionistic landscape. About the Artist: C.W. Mundy, an American impressionist, was born in 1945 and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated with a B.F.A. from Ball State University, in Indiana, in 1969 and then shortly thereafter traveled to California, where he painted, played music, and worked on his M.F.A. at Long Beach State. In 1978, he returned home to Indiana, worked as a sports illustrator for a decade, then in the early 1990s took on the challenge of painting in a more impressionistic style, going out of doors and painting en plein air, from life. This painting style led Mundy to a series of European plein air painting trips, beginning with a trip to France in 1995 and continuing through the present. In 2007, Mundy achieved master status in The American Impressionist Society and in 2003 he was invited to master signature membership in the Oil Painters of America. He is also a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists. His work is in select public collections including the Art Museum of Grater Lafayette in Lafayette, Indiana; the National Art Museum of Sport in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle Indiana...
