Wonderful mid-century plein air impressionistic landscape of Vasquez Rocks by Paul Miram (German/American 1904-2001), 1964. Painted in loose, painterly style similar to famous Southern California plein air artists such as Hanson Puthuff, William Wendt and Samuel Hyde Harris, this painting beautifully captures the light and palette of the desert rock landscape. Signed lower left edge. Gallery Label on stretcher bar. Presented in carved wooden frame of period. Image size: 25"H x 30"W.
PAUL A. MIRAM German/American 1904-2001 Mr. Miram was born in Germany and had lived in La Crescenta, California He was an electrical engineer for 70 years with the German government prior to his retirement.
Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park is a 932-acre park located in the Sierra Pelona in northern Los Angeles County, California. It is known for its rock formations, the result of sedimentary layering and later seismic uplift. It is located near the town of Agua Dulce, between the cities of Santa Clarita and Palmdale.
