Nan Hass Feldman
"What My Kimonos Do While I Am Asleep", Japanese, blues, pinks, oil painting

2020

About the Item

Nan Hass Feldman's "What My Kimonos Do While I Am Asleep" is a 20 x 16 inch oil painting on cradled panel and relates back to the Japanese Floating World series. In this series, I used the beautiful symbols of the Japanese Edo period to create dream-like paintings which are highly designed and decorative. They include images of birds, fish, kimonos, and fans in a setting of rich browns, blues, salmons, pinks, golds, greens and lavenders. Nan Hass Feldman has been a full-time artist for over 45 years. Her works, whether Landscapes or Interiors are interpreted through her screen of selective seeing, playful detail, heightened color, and bits of fantasy. Nan’s work is always vibrantly colorful, intricate, enlivening, and upbeat. For Nan, art really is about enhancing and interpreting reality to create a more optimistic and emotional world. Nan’s work has been collected in seven countries, holds a BFA, MA, MFA degrees, teaches in three art museums, runs international painting programs, and runs the Artist Loft on a cruise ship. Feldman is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
