Olha Vlasova
Hope, Melancholy serie

2024

About the Item

The edges are painted The "Melancholy" series of paintings reveals the inner world of a person lost in his own emotions. When inner reflection takes precedence over life itself we strive to uncover our essence and understand who we truly are. This collection delves deep into reflections on self-discovery and one's nature. The paintings are imbued with sadness and quiet serenity, while the blue and purple color palette emphasizes the magical and unreal quality of the scenes depicted. The symbolism of horses in the paintings embodies inner forces that can be either wild and untamed or tamed and controlled. It reflects the struggle with inner conflict and ambiguity. The artist hopes that viewers will reflect on their feelings and inner contradictions while contemplating these paintings. Whether they fear sorrow or, on the contrary, seek constant joy without understanding the potential for growth hidden in melancholy. The purpose of this series is to encourage inner exploration and answer the question of whether melancholy is a problem or a path to emotional growth. The artist believes that the heart of melancholy may be a key to a deeper understanding of oneself and one's emotional landscape. ABOUT ARTIST Olha Vlasova is a Ukrainian artist who has been passionate about painting since childhood. She received her higher art education in painting and costume design, which heavily influenced her work. Ornamentation also plays a significant role in her art. Olha experiments with various techniques and materials, but she finds that acrylics offer boundless possibilities for imagination and exploration. As a professional artist, Olha is deeply committed to exploring the themes of female sexuality and self-worth. Her goal is to illustrate that a woman's appearance does not diminish her importance or autonomy. Olha asserts that a woman's appearance is her choice, not a means to achieve goals at the expense of men. As an artist, Olha focuses her research on conveying the personal experiences of women who encounter condescension and the diminution of their value due to sensitivity and femininity. She conveys that the concepts of femininity and seriousness, playfulness and rationality are not mutually exclusive and can coexist. Olha's work actively participates in the discussion on tolerance and the pursuit of creating a safe space for self-expression. She incorporates themes of new sincerity in her work, embodying the desire to be oneself without the fear of encountering mockery, sarcasm, or societal labeling. She has extensive artistic experience, and her works are held in private collections in the USA, Norway, Denmark, France, and Ukraine.

  • Slumbering Spirit, Figurative original painting by Tetiana Pchelnykova
    Located in Zofingen, AG
In the serene stillness of "Slumbering Spirit," part of my contemplative "Thoughts" series, I explore the profound quietude of rest. The painting captures a woman in repose, the very image of tranquility as she lies beneath the delicate branches of a young apple tree, her sleep undisturbed by the world's whispers. The ancient symbols etched upon her shoulder speak of "spirit," hinting at the unseen energy that animates us all, even in our most restful moments. This slumbering form is a sanctuary of peace, her dreams a hidden realm where the spirit roams free. Above her, the apple branches bow gently, a nod to the biblical Eve's apple, symbolizing knowledge, temptation, and the duality of innocence and awareness. It is a fruit laden with the weight of history, yet here it is presented anew, in a light untainted by the past's shadows. This work is an invitation to pause, to reflect on the spirit within and the nature that surrounds us, to find the sacred in the everyday. "Slumbering Spirit" is a celebration of the inner quiet that nourishes the soul and a recognition of the profound narratives that sleep can tell. ABOUT ARTIST: Tetiana Pchelnykova...

  • Interstice of Worlds, Figurative original painting by Tetiana Pchelnykova
    Located in Zofingen, AG
From the new series " Self-awareness," we present "Interstice of Worlds," a painting that immerses the viewer in a realm of emotional resonance and symbolic representation of time. Crafted with a blend of oil and acrylic on canvas, it portrays a woman with intertwined hands, embodying a longing for the ineffable. Beside her sits a dog with a bowed head, in silent solidarity, sharing in the unspoken yearning of its owner. The backdrop of this scene is the symbolic collision of day and night, depicted through the lunar phases suspended in the night sky and a rainbow heralding the daylight. This not only reflects the passage of time but also the internal dualities of human nature, the eternal struggle between light and darkness that each of us faces. "Interstice of Worlds" evokes philosophical contemplation on how we perceive time and experience loss, our capacity for feeling and expressing emotions. The painting invites gallery visitors to a profound introspection and understanding of life's transitions. It dialogues between the inner world of the individual and the universal cycles, between personal longing and the collective sentiments of humanity." This piece is an expressive continuation of the thematic exploration of self-identification, viewing the woman not as a static symbol but as a dynamic being, living and breathing in the perpetual rhythm of the Universe. • Serenity of Essence, Figurative original painting by Tetiana Pchelnykova
    Located in Zofingen, AG
In my latest work from the 'Thoughts' series, titled 'Serenity of Essence', I once again delve into the profound world of feminine reflections. On this 60x80 cm canvas, painted with acrylics, I depicted a seated young woman with a cat resting beside her. This image creates an atmosphere of tranquility and deep contemplation, characteristic of my series. The background of the painting reveals a view of hills and trees, the leaves of which are adorned with ornaments, adding sophistication to the composition. The symbol of infinity on the woman's shoulder is not just decorative; it symbolizes the endlessness of existence and unity with nature. The flowers and grasses in the meadow are depicted symbolically and graphically, creating a visual rhythm that engages and leads the viewer through various levels of perception. 'Serenity of Essence' is not just a painting; it is my perspective on feminine self-discovery and inner harmony. This canvas is an invitation for viewers to feel at one with nature, find peace in their thoughts, and discover the deep symbols of feminine existence. In this work, I once again demonstrate my vision and ability to transform philosophical themes into visual metaphors that resonate with the soul ABOUT ARTIST: Tetiana Pchelnykova...
