Woman portrait with eyelash curler in style of 1920
Anita Arbidane (1983)
In 2008 graduated Latvian Academy of Arts Department of figurative painting. He regularly participates in exhibitions since 2004 year.
In Anita's works attention is drawn to restraint, aristocratic, skillfully executed paintings with exquisite details and looks, such as a picture with a woman and lobster, where she gently holds the lobster like a child. The artist's work combines classical painting and historical style with modern details that so smoothly and so obvious intertwine in the works, thus imperceptibly destroying a time barrier.
Anita Arbidane about her paintings says that "ideas and themes are usually born out of personal experience and pranks" nearest Society of Artists. "All art motifs, borrowing mainly from life, for example in research paper " Our daily bread ", the picture depicts the desperate search for a young man in search of a better life or a thick layer of butter on a sandwich, and - cases of force majeure, which is always intervenes and prevents it to achieve in this case a thread that from the hands of the heroes of paintings allegedly stealing gastronomic perversion. In many works are found gastronomic motives, such as lobster, which is a symbol of the good life. Works have very personal motives, but the most important thing is to have an idea, image that may evoke interest in the viewer."

- Gypsy girl, 1947. Oil on canvas, 34x37 cmBy Jadviga ZjilvinskaLocated in Riga, LVJadviga Žilvinska (1918-2010) was born in Tallinn. She grew up in Liepāja, where her great interest in art began and strengthened, which led the young artist to study at the Art Academy of Latvia. During her studies at the Academy, she studied with K. Ubāns, V. Tone and J. Liepiņš, and defended her diploma thesis under the guidance of L. Liberts. Later on, she devoted her entire life to art, working at the Liepāja School of Fine Arts and as a portraitist at the "Māksla" combine. She had four favourite themes: landscapes, portraits, flowers and sacred painting. Her works have lyricism and inner harmony. In the portraits, we see not only the outer form of a person, but the artist allows us to look into the very essence of a person - it is likely that the models themselves often saw something new and bright in themselves through the artist's vision. The works are executed in various techniques - tempera, oil, pastel and watercolour. CV: 1938 - Graduated from the Liepaja Secondary School of Applied Arts, Department of Decorative Painting. 1943 - Latvian Academy of Art, L. - Hedwig Mechle – Grossmann (1857 - 1928) Rose Flower Girl , 1920 - Oil PaintingBy Hedwig Mechle-GrossmannLocated in Meinisberg, CHHedwig Mechle - Grossmann (Germann, * 3rd of December 1857, Görlitz - † 1st of October, 1928 Ödenburg) Die Kleine Rosenverkäuferin - The Little Rose Seller • Oil on carse canvas, ca. 100 x 75 cm • Frame, 107 x 81 cm • Signed and dated 1920 upper right This large painting will make everybody stop, look, smile and want to buy a lovely rose from that charming girl. Take your time and have a look at the details … the stopper of the water ceramic bottle, her piece of bread, the torn and frayed clothing and more. Hedwig Mechle-Grossmann is well known and appreciated for her expressive genre scenes depicting children. Born in Görlitz, she worked in Berlin and moved on to Ödenburg, where she died. Important examples of her work are held in the Ödenburg Landesmuseum. A few words on condition: The painting has received slight sympathetic restoration - The partially frayed edges have been professionally relined with a narrow strip of new canvas for strength and then the canvas has been re-stretched on to the original stretcher, with the arms of the stretcher covering most of the newly attached strips of canvas. One of the arms of the stretcher has suffered slight worm damage in the past. That short section has been treated, stabilized and the restorer covered the unsightly area with a strip of the same canvas, which was used to reline the edges. The frame seems to be original (certainly early 20thC) - the corners have been re-glued, small areas have been retouched and minor sections of the molding are missing. New small woodblocks...Category
