"Mystique" 49x67" Oil on Canvas

About the Item

This exquisite painting titled "Mystique"' is a large oil on canvas by Ceravolo that measures 49x67", it was painted in 1980 in Ceravolo's trademarked portrait / illusion style, featuring abstract and realistic work in the same painting. The image of this painting features a New York model that Ceravolo has used as his inspiration many times over the years. New York art Critic Malcolm Preston wrote in his review after viewing this original painting by Ceravolo: "Painted in a soft-focus manner, featuring a low intensity, gray, monochromatic tonal range, Ceravolo's giant images have the immediacy and impact of a billboard combined with the design stylizations of Art Deco...They are, reflections of our mass culture". "Mystique" is painted in Ceravolo's classic soft focus realistic style combined with his trademark abstract illusions; that appear to be floating in front of the oil on canvas portrait. This is the same soft focus look that Ceravolo became famous for with the oil portraits that he was commissioned to created for the Palladium Theatre in New York City. Ceravolo's large scale paintings came to popularity when he was commissioned to create 5 paintings for the lobby of the Palladium Theatre in New York City of Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Frank Zappa and Hall and Oates. In addition to The Palladium portraits, Ceravolo's paintings are in many influential corporate and private collections, including: ELTON JOHN, ROD STEWART, HUGH M. HEFNER, PRINCESS MARIAM, DAVID BRENNER, MONIQUE VAN VOOREN, WARNER BROS., RCA RECORDS AND SCHENLEY INDUSTRIES to name a few. His paintings are in numerous corporate and private collections worldwide. We have included a few images of Ceravolo with some of his celebrity collectors, in addition to some media on his paintings over the years.
