36"x36" oil on wood panel. This painting fuses figure and pattern, with a contemporary Pop Art feel. Emily Roz depicts a red with white polka dot bikini clad torso, against a ground of vivid colors. A vibrant portrait of Summer, bright orangish red glows against the climbing vines of the wandering jew plant in cobalt blue. An ambient reflected hue of crimson appears on the left side of the figure, while a golden tone of the figure's skin reflects the vivid yellow against the violet of the plant on the right side of the composition.
Emily Roz's compositions pair pattern with figure often referencing stylized depictions of botanical forms.
Emily Roz (b. 1972, New Haven, CT) is a New York based artist. She has had multiple solo exhibitions at Front Room Gallery in New York and a solo show at MULHERIN Toronto is forthcoming. Her work has been in group shows including: MULHERIN New York, Auxiliary Projects, and 31Grand, New York; Decatur Blue, Washington DC; NUDASHANK, Baltimore; articule, Montreal; Gardenfresh, Chicago; Franklin Street Works, Connecticut; and The Kohler Art Center, Wisconsin.
She received an MFA in Fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BA from Hampshire College where she studied Art History, Literature and Weaving. Her work has been covered in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Time Out New York, The Village Voice, The Washington Post, Joy Quarterly, W+G Williamsburg News + Art, Apollo Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, Two Coats of Paint and NewCity Chicago.

Emily Roz
Emily Roz was born in New Haven in 1972. She is a New York based artist. She has had multiple solo exhibitions at Front Room Gallery in New York and a project space presentation at Mulherin Toronto. Roz’s work has been in group shows including, Mulherin New York, Auxiliary Projects and 31Grand, Decatur Blue, NUDASHANK in Baltimore and The Kohler Art Center, Wisconsin.
