Ernst Neuschul
Sunflowers

About the Item

Ernst Neuschul was born into a German-Jewish merchant family in the industrial town of Aussig/Ebe (Usti nad Labem) in northern Bohemia. His origins and ancestry had a decisive influence on the biography of this versatile and restless artist. The artist's life pulsates with the rhythm of his time. As a socially critical and highly political artist, he lived and worked at the focal points of European history. As a person and an artist, Neuschul embodied like few others of his time the impetuous, cosmopolitan and creative search for a new social and artistic reality in Europe between the two world wars.
