Franck Innocent
Vintage Still Life oil painting of Pomegranates, Post Impressionist Still Life

1964

About the Item

Large vintage oil painting by French artist Franck Innocent (1912-1983) signed and dated in the original heavy frame. This post impressionist oil painting is cleverly crafted with impasto thickened oils, elevated from the canvas to create animated interest from inanimate objects. The colours are bright and cheerful, the background hues of blues and greys would blend in very well with today's colour schemes and the painting would sit nicely in a kitchen or dining area. The clay pot provides grounding in this painting, but the eye is taken towards the pomegranates and figs, delicious fruit in delicious deep hues. The artist has added a small floral to complete this composition. Medium: Oil on stretched canvas Overall size: 34ins x 24ins or 86cms x 60cms (Approx) Date: 1964 Signed: Franck Innocent (1912-1983) French artist Born 20 November 1912, in Sahurs (Seine-Maritime); died 1983. Franck was a painter of landscapes, harbour scenes and still-lifes. Franck Innocent studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rouen, where he began exhibiting landscapes. His first landscapes of Normandy were highly constructed, with accentuated ridges and thickly impasted paint. They evolved towards a lighter, clearer art. He linked himself with what is called the School of Rouen. He regularly participated in Paris at the Salon des Indépendants, Salon d'Automne, Salon Comparaisons and Salon Peintres Témoins de Leur Temps. He also had solo exhibitions in France and abroad. (Benezit) Condition: This painting is in good condition, there is a small renovation on the right of the painting, you should also expect imperfections throughout associated with age, nothing onerous. It's in its original very attractive large heavy frame which has cracking throughout and minor imperfections and renovations. This painting is sent fully insured, track and trace with Colissimo.
