For 17 years she lived with her family around the world in France, South Africa, South Korea, Australia, Japan and the USA. She recently moved back to her hometown of Cheltenham. She has exhibited numerous times in Sydney, Tokyo, New York, New Jersey and London. Last year she was awarded the Gwen Mandley Memorial Award at the Chelsea Art Society. She has been selected for the Royal Institute of Oil Colour annual exhibition, the Royal Institute of Watercolours annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries and the Royal Watercolour Society exhibition, Bankside Gallery. Gabrielle's paintings are inspired by the light in the landscapes, seascapes and urban world around her. She loves to paint en plein air in both oil colour and watercolour and loves to draw in charcoal, pastel and pencil. The beauty of the everyday, the clarity and changes in the light , the pattern and composition of the landscape all inspire her. She also frequently draws from the figure to capture gesture in all mediums. She loves the ‘push’ and ‘pull’ process of painting and mark making to capture the constantly changing landscape and likes the challenge of working in different mediums. She works in a painterly style and is not afraid to let the intuitive process take over. She is becoming more excited about the possibilities of abstraction in her work.
