About the Item
X-Ray of a 1959 Porsche 365B Coupe.
A man with x-ray vision, NICK VEASEY creates art that shows what it is really like inside.
Nick’s work with radiographic imaging equipment takes the x-ray to another level. Everyday objects are transformed from the banal to the beguiling and the layers and make-up of natural items are shown in fantastic detail.
These works are a classic example of the fusion between art and science. The results transcend classification as photographs, having the gravitas to motivate science institutions and art galleries to acquire the artworks. The Victoria and Albert Museum in London have recently added his work to the British National Collection of Photography. Nick regularly exhibits at fine art galleries the world over. The ethereal and fascinating works have collected a host of International awards.

Nick Veasey
We live in a world obsessed with image, what we look like, what our clothes, houses, and cars look like, etc. Nick Veasey counters this obsession with superficiality by using x-rays to strip back layers and show what is under the surface. Often, integral beauty adds intrigue to the familiar and challenges our automatic reaction to the physical appearance by highlighting the beauty inside. Society is being increasingly inhibited by security and surveillance. Take a flight or go into a high-profile courtroom and your belongings will be x-rayed. The post arriving in corporations and government departments is often x-rayed. Security cameras track our every move. By using the same gadgetry that removes a sense of freedom from our lives, Veasey speculates upon what the manufactured and natural world really consists of, thereby reminding us that beauty is more than skin deep. Nick Veasey's work is exhibited in a number of major international galleries in Europe, North America, and Asia. He is the recipient of many photographic and design awards, granted by the IPA Lucie Awards, AOP, Graphis, Communication Arts, Applied Arts, PX3, and the D&AD. In 2008, Veasey was nominated for the IPA Lucie International Photographer of the Year.

- "Veiled Sky", Photography, Archival Print on Silk, Embellished Hand StitchedBy Luanne RimelLocated in St. Louis, MOLuanne Rimel is an artist, curator, instructor, and currently the Director of Education Programs at Craft Alliance Art Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Her work is layered with historical dialogue and tactile intrigue through both technique and concept. Rimel prints her original photography on repurposed flour-sack cloths using a wide-format inkjet printer. Detailed sections of the image are created and layered, collaged and hand stitched onto the cloth, referencing earlier domestic practices of mending and repair, reuse and repurposing. The delicate, repetitive hand quilting across the surface creates shadows and textures and alludes to the marking of time. Her photographic imagery and textile work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, including Japan, China and Korea, and is in many private and corporate collections. Her work is traveling in Quilt National 2013 and was in QN 2011. She has exhibited in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Smithsonian Craft Shows. Her work will also be included in the new book, Art Quilts of the Midwest, published by the University of Iowa Press. Other exhibitions include a solo exhibit at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, St. Louis, MO, Art Quilt Elements, Wayne, PA, and the Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago IL. Luanne received an MFA in Fibers from Southern Illinois University and has taught numerous workshops and classes around the country.
