Ali met the fab four in 1964 at the famous 5th Street Gym in Miami, during the group's first tour of the US. Ali (still Cassius Clay at the time) was training for his first encounter with the fearsome world champion Sonny Liston. At the time it was taken the picture contains arguably the five most recognisable faces on the planet.
Chris Smith has been at the forefront of British Sports Photography for over thirty years. His career in Sports Photography started at the Observer newspaper in 1970. Six years later he joined the The Sunday Times, where he has worked for over thirty years.
Chris has covered every major event in the sporting calendar - from Rugby and football World Cups to horse racing, cricket, athletics, sailing and boxing. He has been the winner of The Sports Photographer of the Year four times - and of the Individual Sports Picture of the Year twice. His book 'Sport in Focus' shows his extensive coverage of sport and many of his award winning photos.
Chris lives in London with his wife Sylvia. He is still working and continues to photograph sport.

- #19, 1970s Nightclubs of Chicago South Side - Rare Vintage Silver Gelatin PrintLocated in London, GBA camera is a window through which a photographer interacts with the world, and it's up to the operator to decide whether his camera will be a barrier or a mirror between he and his subjects. In the 1970s, Michael Abramson chose the latter path when he brought his camera to Pepper's Hideout on Chicago's South Side. Following in the footsteps of his acknowledged influence Gyula Halász, a Hungarian photographer better known as Brassaï who became the pre-eminent chronicler of the Paris nightlife he loved so much, Abramson initiated himself into the nightlife of Chicago's predominantly black neighbourhoods. He was very much a part of the scene he documented on film, drinking, laughing, and dancing with his subjects into small hours and becoming as much a part of the atmosphere as the locals who frequented the same nightspots he did. - Joe Tangari (Numero Group, 2009) This series won Abramson a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1978 and launched his career as a photojournalist. Eventually the project resulted in a hardbound book, Light: On the South Side, including the Grammy and Mojo nominated album, featuring Chicago blues...Category
