About the Item
This is Untitled #28 from the Nature of Particles series.
The Nature of Particles series consists of abstract photographs of ordinary particulates, that we observe in our everyday surroundings as floating fragments seen in shafts of light.
My Nature of Particles series allows a safe distance for one to contemplate both positively and more recently, negatively, what could be happening below the threshold of unaided human sight. I capture the particles in motion. These tiny spheres seem to whirl in unseen eddies, roil in orbits, settle in spots and move on to circulate on invisible flowing currents of air. I use this commonplace occurrence to explore interesting visual possibilities that might remind us of a starry sky, or finely stirred deep ocean sediment or even as a visual immersion within a stream of flowing bubbles.
The “Nature of Particles” series consists of 30 photographs created in the artist’s studio in New York during the winter/spring of 2020. Captured with digital media, the final photographs are produced by the artist in limited editions on museum-quality archival paper.

Howard Lewis
Lewis started photographing when he was a teenager and continued through film school. He went on to work as an advertising and editorial photographer where he photographed for international clients like Taylor Wines and General Foods. Lewis’ fine art photographs have been in several museum exhibitions including the Michener and Dow museums as well as in major corporate collections. Even while he did commercial assignments, Lewis always photographed for himself as an expression of a specific vision. He mostly photographed in black and white, and studied with O Winston Link, Joyce Tenneson and many others. Lewis developed an interest in creating images related to science and innovation. He was fortunate to meet prolific inventor and scientist Dr. Edwin Land (CEO and Founder of Polaroid) which furthered his passion for integrating science into his photographs. Polaroid materials became part of his way of sketching photographically. Eventually, he left the commercial business and photographed extensively for self-expression. He ventured into parallel initiatives such as new product development (he holds three patents) and creating welded metal sculpture. All these activities influenced his photographs, especially sculpting which became immensely important to his growth in creating his still life images. Lewis’ photographs have been exhibited in galleries and cultural centers internationally, including the Gladstone Regional Museum and Gallery in Queensland, Australia, Florida Museum of Photographic Arts in Tampa; the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, Pennsylvania; the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science in Midland, Michigan; the New York Center for Photographic Arts; the Black Box Gallery in Portland, Oregon; the Courtyard Gallery in Connecticut; and the Grey & Gove Gallery in New York City.

Steps, a ladder, almost all from the bottom to the top, to show you are climbing. Or ? It's up to everyone to decide, to think about which metaphor they prefer. But it's still a personal matter. For some it will be happy, easy or joyful, while for others, Jörg says in a text written in 1982, the image will refer to a painful memory, a painful sensation, an ordeal. Because this image is "us", it is only us but it is all of us. Limited Edition 1/5 Unframed Please note this will include any custom sizes requested German photographer Jörg Krichbaum...Category

In a text devoted to him, evoking these seemingly silent photos of Krichbaum, one critic used the term "din" to define the flow of thoughts and feelings that escaped from it. In this too quick glimpse of Paris, the artist creates a dialogue between the white glass balls of a hotel chandelier with two ostrich eggs in the window of a fashionable decorator, while the fashion models, scattered at will shops and seasons, endless stories are exchanged.
