Le grand musicien russe Alexandre Scriabine disait que la musique possède ses propres couleurs. Il cherchait à créer des mélodies qui évoquent des associations de couleurs. Dans ses photos, Karina ZAITSEVA a, au contraire, imaginé que chaque couleur possédait son propre son. Karina vit à Saint-Pétersbourg, une ville dont les habitants disent en plaisantant qu'ils peuvent distinguer 1000 nuances de gris. Le climat local est assez rude, le soleil apparaît rarement. C'est pourquoi, loin du regard des touristes, elle a voulu évoquer la riche palette lumineuse de cette ville grise, une ville qui possède une atmosphère unique avec une sonorité visuelle unique.
