About the Item

Archival pigment print Signed and numbered, verso 40 x 50 inches 48 x 63 inches (Total edition of 15) This artwork is offered by ClampArt, located in New York City. Please note that prices increase as editions sell. Lori Nix and Kathleen Gerber's series, "The City" (2005-2013) moves indoors to a variety of architectural interiors that could be found in our own urban surroundings. While much of Nix and Gerber’s earlier work was grounded in personal experience, this series exists more in the realm of speculation. These public spaces lie deteriorating and neglected while nature slowly reclaims them. The reason for their decline is unclear, but the effects are not. Lori Nix and Kathleen Gerber have been making art collaboratively for over sixteen years. Originally from the American Midwest, now based in Brooklyn, they construct meticulously detailed model environments and photograph the results. For the last decade they have found inspiration in their urban surroundings, imagining a future mysteriously devoid of mankind. Their miniature fake landscapes and interiors reflect a love of science fiction and dystopian entertainment (think “Blade Runner,” “Planet of the Apes,” “Logan’s Run”), an appreciation for great architecture, and an affinity with the Sublime painters of the Hudson River School. Their images of faux landscapes and gritty urban interiors have gained wide acclaim in both the U.S. and Europe, and Nix is a 2014 Guggenheim Fellow in photography.

  • Cloud, Contemporary Color Photography on Reflections
    By Roberta Fineberg
    Located in New york, NY
For the image “Cloud” the artist Roberta Fineberg’s attention and equilibrium remained anchored on an anthropomorphic cloud during an unusual springtime (the pandemic 2020) in New York. Sheltering in place, with the soul of the City laid bare, birds sang louder than usual outside city dwellers’ windows. Sunlight illuminated the empty streets, formerly bustling. Nature reigned. A contemporary color photograph, Cloud, 2020 by Roberta Fineberg is 18" x 24" (sheet size) an archival pigment print on baryta paper in an edition of 5. Photograph is signed by the artist. Provenance: RF Archive *** Artist Bio: As a photographer and visual artist, Roberta Fineberg (RF) focuses on the themes of serendipity, inventiveness, and development of ideas for her photography, video, installations, works on paper, and painting. Drawn to experimentation, she explores diverse mediums and subjects such as the ephemeral (butterfly series), stolen moments (documentary work), play, timelessness, the enduring, and significance of matter. In July 2022, Roberta Fineberg’s Double Helix was included in a Sotheby’s auction in New York City and exhibited in the preview show Contemporary Discoveries. Selected exhibitions include: Time Gallery New York (2022), Phyllis Harriman Gallery New York studio shows (2022; 2020), CADAF online art...
