The condition of the Polaroid Polacolor print is good. The print shows no surface wear or obvious discoloration. The frame has some minor separation in the upper left and right quadrants. Though he originally trained as a painter, William Wegman is best known for his humorous photographs of his pet Weimaraner dogs. Wegman typically poses his canine subjects in an array of poses and costumes, occasionally equipping them with a bevy of props. His compositions are often in dialogue with art history, riffing on tenets of Minimalism and color field painting. Additionally, the artist has experimented with Polaroids and made paintings of postcards. Wegman’s work belongs in the collections of the Centre Pompidou, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Walker Art Center, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Wegman has also produced drawings and films.
