From the right to the left there are: a muscular woman, an american flag, an eagle, and a sunset framed by roses. When asked about the message of the print, Salazar said it was "To show American pride and to give thanks for having been born in this great country."
Salazar created the print at Self Help Graphics in Los Angeles, and it is in several museum collections, including the University of California at San Barbara. From the right to the left there are: a muscular woman, an American flag, an eagle, and a sunset framed by roses. ≈
As an “elder statesman” of the Chicano Movement, Salazar turned his attention to the challenge of regenerating the sense of community and activism enjoyed by its leaders and participants in the late 60s and early 70s. Like many artists who’ve worked with a strong sense of social purpose, he’s melded the fiery enthusiasm of his youthful politics with a growing appreciation for playful engagement as part of the artistic arsenal.
Salazar created the print at Self Help Graphics in Los Angeles, and it is in several museum collections, including the University of California at San Barbara.
