He then went to Vienna without a recommendation or knowledge of the German language, where he studied at the Academy of Vienna at August Eisenmenger from 1888 to 1894. From 1923, Epstein had a professorship at the Academy. He received an award for the image of Polish-Polish chess players, and the Michael Beer Prize for Saul and David . A travel scholarship enabled him to study in Rome . Further trips took him through several European countries and also to Palestine. During the First World War , Epstein was a member of the art group in the Austro-Hungarian War Press Center . In 1920 a comprehensive exhibition of his paintings took place in the Künstlerhaus , from which he received the Reichl Prize and was honored with the title Professor. In 1935 Jehudo emigrated to South Africa. His urn was buried at the Central Court of Vienna in the Israeli department. In the first decades of the twentieth century, Jehudo Epstein had great success with his realistic images of Jewish everyday life and popular life.
