Marcel Stobbaert
Landscape - Etching by Marcel Stobbaert - 1930

1930

About the Item

Composition is an exceptional etching made by Marcel Stobbaerts, in excellent conditions of preservation. The important Belgian artist was an engraver, painter and illustrator. His style was influenced by the Cubist-Futurist avantgarde, of which he is an eminent exponent in the 1920s and 1930s. The artwork is a beautiful engraving, in which, following the concomitant artistic avantgarde, the artist describes synthetically a place near the sea and contemporaneously a prison with convicts and two prison officers. Probably this is an illustration relating to a literary text. This is a beautiful example of art of the early XX century, particularly interesting for the synthetic arrangement of the figures.
