About the Item

Golda Meir, Israeli Zionist leader, Prime Minister and feminist icon, smoking a cigarette. Nancy Drosd is a painter working in New York City. Since 2001 she has had four solo shows and participated in three group shows at the Tatistcheff Gallery in Chelsea. Her work is included in The Smithsonian, has been shown at the Queens and Brooklyn Museums and is in the collection of Richard Mayer, Allan Stone, Johnson & Johnson, The New York Health and Hospitals Corporation and Lehman College among others. Nancy Drosd received a Painting Scholarship from the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, Maine, and a BA in Fine Arts from Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts. Her paintings have been exhibited at The Tatischeff Gallery, NY; Jan Weiss Gallery, NY.; and The Metropolitan Museum of Miami, Miami, FL, among others and is included in the collections of The Smithsonian Institution; New York Public Library; Lehman College (CUNY); New York City Health and Hospitals; and Bellevue Hospital Center. She was included in the show Public Art, an exhibition focused on public art, including sketches, models, and documentary photographs of public works. Artists included Vito Acconci, Romare Bearden, Dina Bursztyn, Nancy Drosd, Rafael Ferrer, Barbara Kruger, Komar & Melamid, Tim Rollins, K.O S., Aldo Rossi, and Martin Wong. Many of her paintings are about running or swimming, used as a metaphor for life on the move in the city. Nancy Drosd lived and worked in New York City.
