About the Item

An attractive poster by J.L Beuzon, showing a game of ping-pong in the mid-1930s. The ladies are elegantly dressed for a game of table tennis. Table tennis is thought to have originated in England at the end of the 19th century. The most common story about the creation of table tennis is that, during a dinner party, some Victorian notables were discussing tennis and wanted to show some patterns of play on the table. They used a champagne cork for a ball, cigar boxes for rackets and books for a net. Sport - Art Deco
