Daniel Pollera
Daniel Pollera was born in 1953 in the coastal town of Freeport, New York. His interest in art began at a very young age, gravitating toward drawing and painting the surrounding coastline of Long Island. After a short study at SUNY Farmingdale in commercial art, he left to enter the family business.
For almost 15 years, Daniel took a sabbatical from painting, but this didn’t affect his love for the sea. He obtained a captain’s license in 1977 from the United States Coast Guard and took passengers for hire on the open ocean. Through this experience and visual knowledge he was drawn to begin painting again. Although Daniel was primarily self-taught, he worked with Frances Norris Streit, a portrait and mural artist, assisting her on a 14’ x 30’ historical mural for the Roslyn Savings Bank. He also studied with Everett Molinari, a well-respected president of the National Society of Mural Painters. Museum collections include Long Island Museum, Parrish Art Museum, and Guild Hall Museum.
Daniel split his time between his home in East Quogue, Long Island, NY, and Baldwin Harbor, Long Island, NY. These two places offered him inspiration which was the catalyst for his work. “I look for a dramatic setting, filled with light to draw awareness to the image.” The light in his coastal scenes is most notable; people often say they wish they were there.
His work was recently featured in an episode of Treasures of New York on the media platform PBS station Thirteen, where he spoke about the significance of the unique Bay Houses of Long Island and why they are so often the subjects of his paintings.
"We are only passing through this lifetime of ours," Pollera said in reference to his work. "This is a revolving window of constant change and taking in the beauty from a visual perspective is fascinating and interesting; that is what fuels my passion. Living within close proximity to the salt marshes and shoreline has enabled me to capture a moment in time. I feel a deep connection with my subject and it constantly inspires me. I hope that I convey a feeling through my paintings that will be shared for generations and reflect our love for the local waters as they are today."
Daniel Pollera passed away in March of 2022.

- Painting of New York Storm Rain on 42nd Street by Leading British Urban ArtistBy Angela WakefieldLocated in Preston, GBA high quality hand-signed limited edition print entitled 'New York Storm' on 42nd Street with the Chrysler Building by Leading British Urban Landscape Artist, Angela Wakefield. Part of her New York Series. The character of New York’s skyline and large residential districts is often defined by the skyscrapers, street scenes and elegant brownstone row houses, town houses, and shabby tenements that were built during a period of rapid expansion at the end of the 19th century. Angela has now produced over 100 paintings of New York City in her New York Series. “New York City’s five boroughs are home to some of the world’s most recognisable, cherished landmarks and attractions. Angela’s painting style perfectly encapsulates the mood of New York.” Angela Wakefield (Born 1978) has twice been on the front cover of ‘Art of England’ and featured in ARTnews – the most widely read art magazine in the world. Angela has attracted international attention with her urban landscape paintings of New York, London & the North of England. The style of painting has been described as ‘contemporary realism’, and she is often favourably compared with Edward Hopper by collectors and art critics. Her work is held in private collections in Europe and the USA, and has been exhibited in London and across the United Kingdom. Angela's admirers include leading figures in international business, filmmaking and the media. Angela studied at UCLan in the UK, gaining a BA(Hons) in Fine Art. Working with acrylic paint on canvas or board, she is mainly associated with cityscapes and city street scenes, incorporating figurative elements of the landscape, architecture, transportation and the human figure. Angela Wakefield has undertaken several high-profile commissions: She was commissioned by the University of York to paint the high profile £800,000 renovation project 'Greg's Place', kindly funded by Greg Dyke, the former Chancellor of the University, FA Boss & Director General of the BBC. Angela was also commissioned by Stonyhurst College to paint the world-famous Grade 1 listed building. (Former Alumni inching JRR Tolkien...Category
