Denis Paul Noyer
Denis Paul Noyer, son of famed artist Philippe Noyer, has distinguished himself as a painter, lithographer, and sculptor of great talent and originality. Born in Paris in 1940, he showed an interest in drawing early on, a skill which his father helped foster. He went on to attend the Lycee Janson de Sailly and the Beaux Arts de Troyes, before studying under the very master who taught his father. Since his first American exhibit at the Acosta Gallery (Beverly Hills, California) in 1964, Noyer’s work has been shown in Paris, Florence, Rome, Stockholm, New York, Denver, Palm Beach, Las Vegas, and Chicago. Noyer’s works of art continue to be highly sought after and collectable, featured in museums and private collections around the world. A truly multi-faceted artist, he is well known for capturing the quirky, almost surreal grace of the Art Deco Era, with an instantly-recognizable, one-of-a-kind painting technique in which his characters are at both cartoon-like and yet exquisitely real. His work has been described as “classically based,” “naturally motivated,” and “formally realistic.” Noyer describes himself as a “true modern primitive” and has been compared to Bernard Buffet in his early period. The artist and his wife, Rafaela, live and work in Paris, where Noyer has a rooftop atelier overlooking the city.

Ulreich' and dated 1938. The poem below the figure of Summer reads: "Shimmer of heat from the hot dust road. Cold is the mud where the fern grows deep. Flower-scented atmosphere- peaceful sleep. Humming Bird daintily poised on its way. Velvet the night- iridescent the day. Showers and thunder, soft rainbows. Beauty incarnate in delicate clothes. This is the saga of Summer. " This painter, illustrator, muralist, lithographer, author and poet first studied at the Kansas City Art Institute before attending the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Students League in New York. Nura Woodson then studied under John French Sloan and, later, with Frederic Gruger. After returning to the United States, Ulreich continued to exhibit widely, including at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Galleries Biennials (1928-39), the Salons of America, the Society of Independent Artists (1928, 1941) and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (1929-1931).
