Original vintage travel advertising poster - Speed and Comfort The World's largest Air Liners Imperial Airways The British Air Line - featuring great artwork showing smartly dressed passengers chatting on the airfield with a lady boarding the biplane airliner Hannibal with another plane visible in front of the Croydon Airport building in the distance, the plane's wings outstretched towards the viewer highlighted against a dramatic blue, purple and white sky with the bold red and yellow title text on the black border below. Founded in 1924 the British airline Imperial Airways merged into the British Overseas Airways Corporation BOAC in 1939, later merging with the British European Airways BEA to form British Airways BA in 1974. The Handley Page four-engine H.P.42 aircraft Hannibal G-AAGX conducted its maiden flight in 1930 and provided luxury services for Imperial Airways until it was lost without trace in 1940 over the Gulf of Oman during a flight between Calcutta, Alexandria and London. Printed in England at the Baynard Press, London. Good condition, repaired tears, pinholes, minor staining, backed on linen.
