About the Item
Vintage official reproduction poster issued for London Underground featuring colourful World War One artwork depicting the Battle of Ypres with images of an RAF Royal Air Force plane, a red London bus carrying soldiers, various medals and war memorabilia pins, a gas mask and tank on the ribbon of a medal with a silhouette of a military pilot in uniform, a parachute and portrait of the highly decorated Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery known as Monty and The Spartan General (1887-1976), who went on to serve successfully during WWII and with NATO after being shot in the lung at Ypres during WWI, the text around the edge of the medal - Imperial War Museum Underground to Lambeth North or Elephant & Castle - all set on an Army camouflage background with the rest of the text above - This is a reproduction of a poster designed for London Transport. Very good condition, creasing.
